1) Explore South Beach
South Beach is a mix of some of the best things about Florida, including stunning art, great architecture, and beautiful beaches. If you are looking for a short romantic getaway, you could stay in South Beach for a weekend, or more, and have a fantastic time.
To explore the best of South Beach, start with the Art Deco District Welcome Center on Ocean Drive. The welcome center offers information on the unique Art Deco style this area is known for. You can pick up a map of the area and find out about the welcome center’s guided Art Deco Walks and self-guided tours.
The Miami Beach Boardwalk is an amazing scenic pathway stretching seven miles from South Pointe Park to the Surfside border. One of the best beaches walks for couples begins at the South Beach Clock Tower landmark. Heading north on the boardwalk, it’s a 1.5-mile walk to Collins Park on Miami Beach.

3) Enjoy Authentic Cuban Dishes In Little Havana
Spend time in Little Havanna and be immersed in Cuba’s culture, art, and fantastic food.
Some of the popular sites to see in Little Havanna include:
-
The Calle Ocho Walk of Fame – Similar to the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, honoring singers and soap stars of Latin America
-
Máximo Gómez Park – also called Domino Park, is where Cuban retirees gather to drink coffee and play dominoes.
-
Versailles Cuban restaurant – You can have a meal inside the restaurant or stop by the take-out window for coffee and a pastry.
-
Ball and Chain – Offering dancing, drinks, food, and live music since 1935.
If you happen to be in Miami on the third Friday night of the month, head to Little Havanna for Viernes Culturales, a Latin art and culture festival.
4) Hiking In South Florida
Exploring nature, hiking, and searching for wildlife is one of the best things to do in Miami for couples who want to create long-lasting memories. Two parks, in particular, are excellent for hiking.
Matheson Hammock Park is about 45 minutes south of Miami. There are two main hiking trails here, the East Hammock and the West Hammock. Start your hike on the East Hammock Trail beginning at the parking lot nearest the park entrance. This trail ends at Old Cutler Road. Across the road, you will pick up the West Hammock Trail. The total hike is just under 1.5 miles. Matheson Park also has a full-service marina, a snack bar, a restaurant, and picnic pavilions.
Oleta River State Park has 14 miles of mixed-use hiking and biking trails. If you prefer to ride a bike, you can bring your own or rent one here. You can have an entire day trip here by also spending time in the water kayaking, canoeing, or stand-up paddleboarding.
5) Miami Art Events
The most famous art event in America happens in Miami at the beginning of December. Thousands of people attend Art Basel Miami each year for incredible art and fun parties.
Art Basel showcases international contemporary art at the Miami Beach Convention Center and more than 250 galleries in the area. There is a variety of artwork on display and for sale, including paintings, sculptures, prints, and mixed media.
